Cody Edwards Arrest

On May 18, 2021, Detective Cham Buchanan received a report from Dwayne Satterwhite regarding his shop building being broken into. The lock on the door had been cut off, and two Echo brand chainsaws had been stolen.

After reviewing game camera footage provided by Mr. Satterwhite; it was discovered only one vehicle had been at the property on this date before Mr. Satterwhite. The vehicle pictured was a red z71 Chevy pickup with an extended cab bearing a large skull head sticker on the passenger side cab glass, and two smaller stickers on the driver side cab glass.

Detective Buchanan sent the pictures of the suspect vehicle to Chief Barnett of the Cave City Police Department. He stated he believed the vehicle belonged to Cody Edwards, and would go by Mr. Edwards's residence to see if the vehicle was there. At 5:15 PM, Chief Barnett sent me a picture of a vehicle in Mr. Edwards's driveway matching the vehicle in the pictures. Detective Sgt. Cody Bailey stated he would go by the residence and make contact with Mr. Edwards.

Detective Bailey made contact with Mr. Edwards and advised him of his Miranda Rights. Mr. Edwards admitted to taking property that did not belong to him. Detective Bailey stated Mr. Edwards told him that he had been out driving around looking for a house to purchase. Mr. Edwards admitted to entering the shop building and taking the chainsaws. Mr. Edwards turned the stolen property over, and Mr. Satterwhite received his property back.

A Probable Cause Affidavit has been filed for the following charges: Commercial Burglary, Class C Felony; Criminal Trespass, Class D Felony; and Theft of Property, Class A Misdemeanor.
