Incident Release- Williford Man Arrested after Shooting

On Thursday, April 1, 2021; Detective Sgt. Cody Bailey conducted a post-Miranda interview with Kenneth Waters regarding his girlfriend, Felicia Blackwell suffering a gunshot wound. Mr. Waters stated the two had been fighting off and on for the past few days. Their relationship had deteriorated to the point that he and Ms. Blackwell had agreed to separate. On the morning of April 1st, the two had continued their argument. Mr. Waters stated he went to the bedroom and sat on the bed with a sawed-off shotgun. Ms. Blackwell soon came to the doorway. Mr. Waters stated that he put the gun to his head to threaten suicide. Ms. Blackwell called him an asshole before returning to the living room. Mr. Waters commented during the interview that he was Catholic, and thus, could not commit suicide. When Ms. Blackwell returned to the bedroom for a second time, Mr. Waters aimed the shotgun at her, and fired. Mr. Waters then took Ms. Blackwell to the ER where she ultimately succumbed to her wound.

A Probable Cause Affidavit for First Degree Murder, and Possession of a Controlled Substance- Schedule I, has been submitted to the Prosecutor's Office.
