On 03/27/2014 at approximately 6:20 PM the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department and the Cave City Police Department were involved in a pursuit. The pursuit stemmed from a complaint onCarpenter Roadinvolving a dark green Chevrolet pickup truck. Deputy Jeff Adams responded to the call attempting to conduct a traffic stop with the vehicle, but the vehicle would not stop. The vehicle traveled in excess of 100 MPH passing Deputy Cody Bailey who pursued the vehicle. Cave City Officer David Edwards set up spike strips at the intersection of Highway 58 and 167 successfully spiking the vehicles tires. The vehicle continued to travel down the Highway with no regard for oncoming traffic or human life. At that time Deputy Bailey conducted a pit maneuver bringing the vehicle to a stop. The suspect later identified as Christopher Collins then exited the vehicle fleeing on foot entering a nearby pond. Deputy Bailey along with Cave City Officers David Edwards, John Marlow, and Arkansas Game and Fish Officer Roger Tate arrested the suspect shortly after. Christopher Collins is currently being held at the Sharp County Jail awaiting formal charges.
