Sharp County Deputy injured when suspect resist violently UPDATE!!!

Deputy Gary Mitchell went to an address in Evening Shade on July 1st at 1:33pm. At that location he encounters two subjects getting into a pick up truck. Deputy Mitchell requested identification from both subjects. One of the subjects told Deputy Mitchell that he had to get his identification from inside the residence. When the subject took longer than he should to retreive the identification, Deputy Mitchell secured the first subject who was identified as Robert Pollard of Poughkeepsie. Deputy Mitchell then observed that a window on the rear of the residence was open, he spotted the subject who then fled through the wooded area near the home. Deputy Mitchell was able to catch the subject who then began to resist Deputy Mitchell violently. Deputy Mitchell used his taser several times on the suspect who attempted to take it away from Deputy Mitchell. Deputy Mitchell was struck several times in the head by the suspect who was able to flee from Deputy Mitchell. Search dogs from the area as well as the Department of Corrections were called to the area to search for the suspect. The suspect was later identified as John W. Smith. Mr. Smith had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Augusta, Ar. Sheriff Counts spoke with Mr. Smith several times via cell phone in an attempt to get him to surrender to authorities. As of this date Mr. Smith is still at large. On 07/06/2011, John W. Smith was arrested in wooddruff county.
