At 9:44pm april 26th, the Sharp County Dispatch recieved a call of a possible tornado touching down off of Hwy 230 near Shelbyville road. Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts was notified and started mobilizing deputies and rescue personnel. A house to house search was conducted in this sparsley populated area of Sharp County. Sadly rescuers located the home of Eddie and Joann Bradley at 521 Shelbyville road completely destroyed. 48 year old Joann Bradley was the only one home at the time. Ms. Bradley was found deceased approximately 200 feet behind what used to be the family home. Debris from the home was scattered for several hundred yards behind the property. Numerous trees were also destroyed blocking many of the roads in that area. Several other reports of additional property damage was also found in the area. Most of this damage was limited to trees, roofs, and vehicles. No other injuries or deaths were reported. Sheriff Counts later stated that the death of Ms. Bradley was a tragedy and was very proud of all the people in Sharp County for the assistance rendered by so many unpaid volunteers. Not only for the assistance given in this tornado incident but for the flooding situation in the hardy area as well. Sheriff Counts would like to give special thanks to the following assisting agencies: Cave City Fire and Police Departments, Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Evening Shade Fire Department, Highland Fire Department, Grange Calamine Fire Department, Lynn Fire Department, Strawberry Fire Department, Glencoe Fire Department, Highland Police Department, The Arkansas State Police, The Arkansas Game and Fish, Spring River Ambulance Service, Arkansas highway and Transportation Department, and The Sharp County Road Department.
