After a joint investigation involving the Sharp County Sheriff's office and the Drug Task Force of the Third judicial district. A search warrant was obtained for the residence of John D. Brown of 948 Hwy 115 in Cave City. In the early morning hours of July 20th, Investigators with the Sharp County Sheriff's office and the Drug task Force went to Mr. Brown's residence to serve the warrant. When Sheriff Weaver and Det. Sgt. Mark Counts arrived at the residence, they saw Mr. brown standing in his front yard. Mr. Brown immediately took off running. Det. Counts identified himself and ordered Mr. Brown to stop. Det. Counts chased Mr. Brown for approximately 100 yards, watching Mr. Brown throwing items down. Mr. Brown then surrendered to Det. Counts. All the items Mr. Brown threw down were recovered. Approximately 32.5 grams of methamphetamine, assorted pills and marijuana was recovered. During the recovery of the evidence that had been thrown down by Mr. Brown, a small patch of marijuana plants was discovered by Chief Deputy David Huffmaster. Mr. Brown was advised of his rights by DTF agents Mike Zeiger and David Eddington. During that interview, Mr. Brown admitted that all the drugs were his. Investigators also found more than $4000.00 in cash at the residence. John Douglas Brown was charged with 1 count of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine a class Y felony, 1 count of manufacture of a controlled substance (marijuana) a class C felony, 1 count of possession of drug paraphernalia a class C felony, 1 count of possession of a controlled substance (narcotics) with intent to deliver a class Y felony and 1 count of possession of a controlled substance (marijunana) a class a misdemeanor. Mr. Brown is currently in the Sharp Count Jail waiting on a bond hearing.
