On the morning of june 15th, Deputy Coble spotted a vehicle just south of Evening Shade which appeared to have broken down. Deputy Coble later found two individuals walking towards Cave City carrying a gas can. During Deputy Cobles contact with the two individuals, Kellum Kupfner was found to be in possession of marijuana and was arrested. The other male was identified as David Townsend. Mr. Townsend was cooperative and was released. Deputy Coble had the vehicle towed and later relayed this information to Deputy Gerald Traw who received a complaint of a breaking and entering that had occurred near Evening Shade. Deputy Traw began investigating this incident and eventually tied the two men to the breaking and entering. Deputy Traw obtained a search warrant for the subjects vehicle and was able to recover $350.00 worth of stolen property from the vehicle. Approximately $230.00 worth of property damage was also reported during the break in of the victim's truck and trailer. All the property was positively identified by the victim and then returned. Deputy Traw completed an affidavit charging Mr. Kupfner with two counts of Breaking and Entering and one count of theft of property. Similar charges have been filed on Mr. Townsend who is currently still at large.
