Rash of vandalisms in Sharp County solved
On December 19th, 2009, The Sharp County Sheriff's Department received numerous complaints of mail box vandalisms that occurred in south Sharp County. On January 13th, Det. Counts received a call from Cave City Police Chief Aaron Presser, who stated that he had received information that an individual had been bragging about committing these vandalisms. Det. Counts learned the identities of the young men involved in these vandalisms as Oscar Calderon jr. age 19 and Nick Townsend age 18, both of Cave City. They were present with a third juvenile male whose name is being withheld because of his age. Det. Counts began interviewing persons involved and learned that on the 18th of December, 2009, the three young men began destroying mail boxes on various county roads in south Sharp County. It was also learned that these three subjects also damaged some mail boxes in Independance County. Det. Counts and Guidry interviewed the males who admitted that they had been together at that time and had damaged or destroyed over 50 mail boxes on that date. Detectives also learned from these suspects that on or about January 7th, 2010, the same individuals went on an "egging" spree after purchasing four dozen eggs from Home Town Market. they also admitted to going to the Batesville Wal-Mart and purchasing an additional five dozen eggs that they also threw at various vehicles and homes in the Cave City area. Criminal charges are pending.
