UPDATE: Cherokee Village man's death ruled an accident by Medical Examiner's Office
The Arkansas Medical Examiner's Office has officially released their findings on the death of Brittany R. Dahm. Mr. Dahm was found deceased in his vehicle at Ivey's car wash in Ash Flat after the Fire Department responded to that scene for a vehicle on fire. Based on the information gathered in this investigation, the Medical Examiner's Office has determined the cause of death was an accident and the manner of death is smoke and soot inhalation. During the investigation it was found that Mr. Dahm had been having some problems with his vehicle, and that Mr. Dahm had pulled into the car wash because a small fire that had erupted under the dash area on the driver's side. Mr. Dahm moved to the rear seat to get away from the smoke and flames but was still attempting to extinguish the fire. Investigators found both rear interior door handles had been snapped off, making it impossible for Mr. Dahm to escape. It is also believed that Mr. Dahm then fled towards the rear hatch area of his 1999 chevy Tahoe to try and escape out the back hatch but was unable to after being overcome by smoke.
