The Sharp County Detention Center is located directly behind the Sharp County Courthouse. The physical address is 30a Court Street, in Ash Flat. Phone (870) 994-7329


The jail is under the leadership and direction of Sheriff Mark Counts and Chief Deputy David Huffmaster.  We have nine full-time staff members and five part-time employees. As of January 2010 the Sharp County Sheriff's Office has added a full time Nurse which will see to the medical needs of our inmates.


Approximately 1700 inmates were processed through the Detention Center last year. Average daily population is about 40 inmates.

Visitation for inmates is on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00A.M. to 4:00P.M.  For inmates working community service or work release, the time on wednesdays is extended until 7:00P.M.

Visitation WILL BE CANCELLED on days when court is in session. Please call in advance if in doubt. Visitors are reminded that while on premises, all persons and their vehicles are subject to search. Furnishing prohibited articles to inmates is a felony and will be aggressively prosecuted.

Inmates may possess or have brought to them the following items:

Envelopes, loose leaf paper, stamps, pencils, two pair each of; white underwear, socks, and t-shirts. (Inmates name must be plainly stenciled in permanent marker on these items), bible (soft cover only).

Inmates CURRENT prescription medication in ORIGINAL BOTTLE WITH DIRECTIONS.

Money for inmates commissary accounts must be in the form of cash, cashiers checks, or approved money orders. All monies are deposited in the inmate trust fund account and inmates will receive a check with their balance from this account upon release from incarceration.
